Fleet Admiral Chester William Nimitz signed typewritten letter dated October 8, 1945 and autographed photograph of which the letter conveys being sent to the Radford School (El Paso, Texas). Signing both “C. W. Nimitz.” Commander in Chief US Pacific Fleet during World War II, Nimitz played a pivotal role during the war and signed as US representative on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945 to accept the formal surrender of Japan.
Letter measures 7.25 X 10.125, photograph 7 X 10, both with tape residue on verso along the top and bottom margins from once being framed. Good condition.
