This is an incredible ensemble consisting of Bruce Lee’s personal hand-held kicking and punching shield designed by Bruce and custom made by his close friend and famous martial arts craftsman George Lee. The shield is accompanied by Bruce Lee’s handwritten and signed letter written to George, “…After experimenting on the shield, we find that because of the thickness and extra weight, it absorbs the shock much better. Therefore, the holder is not as miserable as before, thanks to you. As I mentioned, we are preparing a script, Coburn, Silliphant and I. Coburn and I will star in it. We hope to start shooting (at) the end of the year, if Coburn’s schedule is open. If not, then it has to be next March. At any rate, this will be the start of something really, really big for me. Take care my friend and thank you once more, Bruce.” Bruce Lee founded his famous “Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute,” in 1960, years prior to being chosen for the "Green Hornet" television series and hit movies on the big screen. Lee known as the Dragon from his series of films passed away tragically in 1973 at the age of 32 while filming “Game of Death.” His talent and success influenced the genre of action movies for many years following his death with his autograph and artifacts most sought after by Hollywood and Martial Arts collectors. The letter and shield are both featured in the book “BRUCE LEE – LETTERS OF THE DRAGON, Correspondence, 1958-1973” edited by John Little and represent the most important personal item belonging to Bruce Lee that we have ever seen offered to the public.
