Bobby Bonilla played a total of 16 seasons during his impressive MLB career. He competed for eight different teams during this time period (1986 to 2001) including the New York Mets on two separate occasions. When he finally retired at age 39, he had compiled 287 career home runs and 1,173 runs batted in. Presented here is one of Bonilla’s New York Mets road jerseys from one of five seasons with the team.
The gray jersey with orange and blue trim on the sleeves reads “New York” across the front in blue tackle twill script outlined in orange and white. The proper “Russell Athletic Diamond Collection” (size 44) manufacturer’s tag is on the left front tail accompanied by a tag of washing instructions. On the left arm is an orange, blue and white embroidered “Mets” patch showcasing the New York City skyline. Bonilla has signed the front left area of the jersey in blue fine-tip marker. All five original metal buttons are intact. The back of the jersey reads “BONILLA” in blue tackle twill outlined in orange and white with his uniform number 25” appearing in similar fashion below.
This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows minor wear.
