Bob Flanagan Original Bill Hader "Tony" Muppet Stage Used in "Puppet Class with Seth MacFarlane" Sketch.
This original Muppet named "Tony" comes from the personal collection of master puppeteer Bob Flanagan who worked alongside Jim Henson at the New York Muppet Workshop. The Muppet was created using the exact specifications of Jim Henson's Muppet Workshop. This Muppet was used in a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit during season 38, 2012, as Bill Hader's alter-ego. In the skit, an instructor (Seth MacFarlane) tries to keep the class on track, but war vet Anthony Peter Coleman (Bill Hader) has a hard time shedding his PTSD while performing with his puppet, Tony. [Season 2012, Season 38, 2012]. This incredible original Muppet comes from the personal collection of pioneer puppeteer Bob Flanagan, who from the Muppets, to SNL and Off-Braodway conquered it all! Bob Flanagan has been making puppets since the “glory days” of puppetry—working alongside Jim Henson making characters for the Muppets and Sesame Street—as well as 27 seasons of Saturday Night Live.
Bob Flanagan, who passed away this year, was a puppet builder who worked in the New York Muppet Workshop with Jim Henson in the 1980s.
