Black Sabbath "Mob Rules" original Greg Hildebrandt preliminary album cover drawing. Pencil on velum, measures 14 x 21. This piece is one of the original preliminary sketches for the final image that would become the cover for Black Sabbath's "Mob Rules." Rules was a nightmare, one that haunted Greg for many years. In this piece you can see how Greg worked out his demons as he brought form to the characters that haunted his dreams for so many years. Hildebrandt's painting this artwork in the 1970's and in 1981 Black Sabbath wanted it for their album cover of Mob Rules. The album was a great success and it was voted #1 Heavy Metal Cover of all time by Imagine FX magazines fans. Greg never had the nightmare again after he painted it. Very good condition.
