This album page is signed by Babe Ruth in black fountain pen, and by Lou Gehrig in blue fountain pen. The date October 18, 1930 has been inscribed by an unknown hand along the right side. This date is significant because it reveals exactly where Ruth and Gehrig were when they took the time to sign this album page. In a celebration that is still talked about to this day, Ruth and Gehrig traveled to the fishing village of Lindenhurst, New York, to take part in an exhibition baseball game against the town's local baseball team. They played in Lindenhurst, because Addie Klein, manager of the town's baseball team was fishing buddies with Babe Ruth. Ruth then persuaded Gehrig to join him on this occasion and the pair were treated like royalty. The town gave Ruth and Gehrig a parade through the center of town in the morning and more than 4,000 local residents turned out for the game, which was reported by the local paper to be "the greatest athletic event in Lindenhurst history." Ruth didn't let the crowd down that day, hitting a tape-measure home run in the final inning to win the game for his club. An incredibly dual-signed piece of Baseball history. Comes fully encapsulated by PSA/DNA. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
