This is perhaps the finest game worn Babe Ruth New York Yankees cap extant. Long held in a private collection, this magnificent cap is accompanied by a detailed evaluation from MEARS Research Services dating the cap circa 1930-33. The navy blue flannel cap remains visually stunning with the “NY” crest among the nicest we have ever seen compared to other game worn Yankee caps from the era never mind compared to the fewer than a handful Babe Ruth caps that ever have been offered for public sale. The interior leather band indicates the “Spalding” manufacturer name and is embroidery stitched with the scripted name of “Babe Ruth” and the size “7 3/8.” From MEARS exhaustive research they have concluded in their letter that the cap shows sign of moderate to heavy wear. The exterior of the cap remains in superior condition with respect to color and surface wear/condition. The brim remains firm and uncracked in any manner; this itself is a rare find in any cap of this vintage. The only cosmetic issue with the brim is that pressed board material has begun to protrude at the very rear/exterior of the brim (both left and right corners). This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest game worn artifacts from baseball’s most legendary player, deserving a home in the most esteemed collections. In addition to the letter from Mears, also comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
