A beautifully engraved silver pocket match safe belonging to Abraham Lincoln.

This bears profuse geometric and floral designs surrounding a vertical oval cartouche on each side, with an A engraved on one side and Lincoln engraved on the other.

Marked W&H inside the lid. The case still contains 6 period matches that belonged to Abraham Lincoln.

Pocket match safes were essential not only for lighting candles, but also the household gas lamps which had been installed in the White House in 1848.

Provenance: From the collection of Dr. John K. Lattimer. John Lattimer had one of the most renowned collections of Abraham Lincoln and presidential memorabilia in the world. There is even a picture of this match safe proudly displayed by John Lattimer.

A serious find and a must-have for any historical or presidential collector.

Authentication: Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
