A Collection of Historic Presidential Engravings and Prints. There are seven engravings or prints of President Abraham Lincoln. Two engravings likely date from late 1800s, one made from a photograph by Brady (10 X 13.5) and the other 8.25 X 13.75 (image size smaller), a 1928 Forbes color lithograph. (8 X 12) of Lincoln taken from an original unretouched negative made in 1864, a circa 1950s lithograph sketch from William Sharp’s “Sketches of American Heroes” (10.25 X 13.25), and three undated unusual Lincoln presentations (9.25 X 12) of Lincoln on heavy paper including one depicting a 2.75 X 4 presentation of the Proclamation of Emancipation. The collection includes an 9.5 X 11.25 engraved print of President Washington “Engraved from Stuarts Painting” (image size 5.5 X 7), two 1869 print engravings of General Grant and Family. The larger (12 X 16) is identified from the engraver A.B.Walter and the smaller (9.5 X 12) both picturing their image in oval. The collection also includes 10 X 14 photogravure prints on stiff paper with plate mark of Presidents James Madison, Zachary Taylor, James Buchanan, James K. Polk, and James Monroe. Each print is signed in plate Date: “Copyright 1907 by Bureau of National Literature and Art” and is accompanied by a printed photogravure tribute on lightweight paper signed in plate by the tribute’s author (9.25 X 12.75). Rounding out this collection are an 1883 supplement to The Illustrated Household Magazine print of James Buchanan on thin paper (with a crease and small hole tear in center 7.75 X 11.75) and an undated vintage print of an engraving of James Monroe (8 X 11.75). Condition varies from fair to very good.
