1937 Springfield Indians Team Signed Original Photograph - Twice Signed by Frank "Skeeter"Scalzi.
This small black and white photograph featuring the 1937 Springfield Indians has been signed by virtually the entire team, with Frank "Skeeter" signing twice, once on the front above his picture, and on the verso as well. All signatures are in blue ink on the front, and Scalzi's second signature is in pencil. Skalzi was a professional baseball player and manager (although this signed photograph depicts the Springfield Indians, a minor league team) he played shortstop and third baseman
Born in Lafferty, Ohio, Scalzi attended the University of Alabama where his roommate was the future longtime Alabama Crimson Tide head football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. His 17-year baseball playing career, which began in 1936, was almost exclusively spent in the minor leagues. The exception was an 11-game, 18-at bat trial with the 1939 New York Giants of Major League Baseball. Scalzi collected six hits, all singles, for a batting average of .333, with one stolen base. He started four games at shortstop during his stint with the Giants.
Dimensions: 5.5 in x 3.5 in.
Condition: Good, with some vintage wear, Scalzi's signature on the verso is light but clearly legibile and much larger than the other signatures.
Authenticity: Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
