This is a World Series ticket stub from Game 3 of the 1932 World Series played between the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on October 1, embedded in American baseball folklore as the Babe Ruth “Called Shot” Game. While the subject of much debate over the ensuing decades, Babe Ruth while at bat being taunted by the Cubs fans and player dugout, Ruth made what appeared to be a pointing gesture with his baseball bat and with the next pitch proceeded to hit a homerun in the direction of where many witnesses believe he “called his shot.” The Yankees defeated the Cubs by a score of 7 to 5 and went on to sweep the Cubs in four games to win the Championship in what would be Babe Ruth’s 10th and last World Series. While this historic ticket exhibits some wear and light wrinkles, the eye appeal of its colorful, stylized design remains intact, including the appearance of two bear cubs playing baseball on verso. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
