Presented here is an intriguing offering of artifacts from Ty Cobb's second favorite sport. The canvas bag and twelve clubs it holds were once owned and operated by Cobb post-retirement, who surely played the game with the same singular desire to win that made him one of baseball's all-time greats. The clubs and bags show their age, with the former toned by oxidation and the latter exhibiting a fair degree of wear and one silver dollar-sized hole. There is no physical attribution to Cobb, but the provenance is unquestionable. Also included is a modern print of a photograph of Cobb on the links. The lot comes with two letters of provenance from Rex Teeslink. Teeslink had developed a close friendship with the dying legend over the course of approximately two years that he served as Cobb's caretaker while attending medical school, and the Hall of Famer's affection for the young man is clear in the letters he sent and the artifacts he willed to him. Now approximately the same age that Cobb had been during their time together, Teeslink has released the following artifacts to the collecting public, some of the most unique and intriguing material from Cobb. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity
