One of the most remarkable signed bats in the history of baseball! Offered is the Eddie Collins Professional Model bat, used by Hall of Famer Jimmy Collins to collect the first hit in the 1930 Boston Post Old Timer’s Game. The game, held September 8th, 1930 at Braves Field in Boston was to benefit Lou Criger, a member of the 1903 Boston Americans whose health was failing. The offered bat was gifted to Criger by the assembled Old Timers who took part in the game, but not before fifty-one of them signed the bat including Hall of Famers Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Napoleon Lajoie, Fred Clarke, Ed Walsh, Eddie Collins, Roger Bresnahan, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, “Home Run” Baker, Chief Bender, Edd Roush, and Bill McKechnie. The un-cracked, well-used Hillerich & Bradsby Pre Model number bat with the signature E.T. Collins emblazoned upon the barrel dates from the 1930 labelling period. The bat is inscribed Boston Post Old Timer’s Game, Braves Field, September 8th, 1930, To Lou Criger, From his Friends and has several newspaper clippings describing the event attached to the barrel. Overall Excellent condition, the bat is accompanied by LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
