1793 Signed French Revolution Convention Document
Rare 1793 signed French Revolution Convention Document signed by French Revolutionary war hero Lazare Carnot who was a leading member of the Committee of Public Safety during the French Revolution where he directed the War, becoming known as the “Organizer of Victory.” Abandoning the Monarchy, the Convention was the first French government organized as a Republic. Other signers include Bertrand Barere, a prominent member of the National Convention who represented the Plain (a moderate political faction) during the French Revolution; Jacques-Nicolas Billaud-Varenne who was one of the most militant members of the Committee of Public Safety and considered a key architect of the Reign of Terror and Committee member Jean-Marie Collot d’Herbois who saved Madame Tussaud from the Guillotine.
