“Safe As Milk” was Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band’s debut album on Kama Sutra Records. This original 1967 bumper sticker was included in first pressing of the album. It was also part of the press kit distributed at their Beverly Hills Hotel press party in early June 1967 which celebrated and publicized the album’s release. It measures 4” wide by 15” long with pin holes at upper right and left corners and general wear, good condition. Unused, the paper backing attached to the sticky part is fully attached to the back. The album defined cool, hipper than hip, produced by Richard Perry, it featured a 20-year old Ry Cooder. John Lennon had two “Safe As Milk” posters on his wall. The Captain, Don Van Fliet, went to high school in the Antelope Valley with Frank Zappa. Jack White cites Beefheart and “Safe As Milk” as a huge influence on his music. In the movie “High Fidelity” Jack Black’s character works at a record store and refuses to sell a “Safe As Milk” album to a customer he deems unworthy. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
