This boxing robe once belonged and was worn by Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali to train for his third fight with Ken Norton on September 28, 1976 at Yankee Stadium, New York City. The robe was given to well known Championship fight promoter and founder of the Boxing Writers Association, Harold Conrad while staying at Conrad’s house in NYC in preparation for the fight. Conrad was instrumental in getting Ali (Cassius Clay at the time) a title bout with Sonny Liston. Among his other fight promotions were many of Ali’s early fights. The magnificent robe is a white terry cloth robe with black satin letters that spell “Muhammad Ali,” sewn on the back. A label from the manufacturer “Everlast” is sewn on the inside collar which is printed “Made Exclusively for Muhammad Ali.” The robes sash is intact. Ali retained his Heavyweight Championship title in a 15 round decision over Norton. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an actual fight robe used by “The Greatest.” Very good condition with evident signs of wear and use. Estimate: $8,000- $10,000.
