Janis Joplin has handwritten and signed this five page letter to boyfriend Peter de Blanc, "xxx Janis" in black ink. The letter, written on five sheets of 6" x 8" stationery and dated "Oct 16" - is from the autumn of 1965 when Janis had returned home to Texas to spend some time regrouping after performing in many small venues. She has written to her boyfriend Peter who was hospitalized at that time in New York. The letter captures a time in Joplin's life full of hope, only shortly before she would gain international fame, and then, sadly, tragedy, dying of an overdose at the age of 27. In excellent condition, the letter is framed with a 6" x 5" black and white picture of Joplin and a small plaque describing the piece. Framed to measure 29" x 26". Estimate $2,000-$4,000.
