This is Elvis Presley's personal Chief Deputy Sheriff Badge from Lee County, Mississippi. Very good condition. This badge has a great story behind it which started on December 28, 1970 when Elvis attended his friends Sonny and Judy West's wedding. After the reception at the church, Elvis hosted a second reception at Graceland, during which the famous picture with Elvis and all the guys showing their Shelby County badges was taken. The next day, Elvis shows up with Priscilla at Tupelo's Lee County Sheriff's Office to receive another badge. Lee County Sheriff J.E. ("Bill") Mitchell served from 1968 to 1972, and on December 29, 1970 he awarded Elvis this Lee County Chief Deputy badge. Elvis subsequently gifted the badge to his long time close friend and "Memphis Mafia" member Alan Fortas. The badge comes with photographs of Elvis (taken by Janelle McComb) filling out paperwork, being fingerprinted, and receiving this very badge that day at the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The badge came from the Elvis-A-Rama Museum in Paradise, Nevada that was owned by Chris Davidson. The museum opened on November 5, 1999, and showcased more than $5,000,000 worth of Elvis' vehicles, jumpsuits, guitars and other memorabilia. The badge is in very good condition. In addition to the photographs, the badge comes with a letter of provenance regarding the Elvis-A-Rama Museum and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll® Certificate of Authenticity.
