This is Dick Taylor’s old Hofner Bass, which is a 500/3 - Senator/Committee style model, dating from circa 1961-2. This was his principal bass throughout his entire time with “The Rolling Stones”, after he had switched from guitar, which he had played with “Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys”, the band that “The Stones” developed from. It was also the instrument he played on various, early “Rolling Stones” recordings, mostly made on his old Grundig home tape recorder, during the band rehearsals at his parent’s house during 1962. Most of these recordings were lost, but some have surfaced, in the collector’s market

This bass was played at almost all the Stones rehearsals and the few gigs we did, during his time with the band. It was also played by everyone else in the band at the time, including Keith & Brian, on the occasions when Dick Taylor was playing guitar.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Rolling Stones History. Not only would you be able to own a guitar that was actually played on the Rolling Stones first recordings, but also played by Keith Richards & Brian Jones! From the Dick Taylor Collection. Dick Taylor was an early bassist for the Rolling Stones and was a part of their first recordings and live performances. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Dick Taylor and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
