In March of 2019 Greg Hildebrandt decided to paint Marilyn Monroe from her 1954 20th Century Fox movie “River of No Return” in which she co-starred with Robert Mitchum. This stunning painting is #108 in Greg’s American Beauties Pinup series. “River of No Return” has always been one of Greg’s favorite Monroe movies. This film gave her a chance to actually act instead of just mostly looking beautiful. Greg chose to paint her in the red dress from the movie. It is his favorite costume of hers in the film. It was apparently also 20th Century Fox’s favorite as they used shots of Monroe wearing this dress in most of their promo and movie posters, as can be seen in the images shown here.
This extraordinary painting is beautifully framed in a gold leaf frame to measure 27” x 38”. Signed by Greg Hildebrandt. Acrylic on canvas, painted March 2019. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the art gallery, a photograph of Greg holding the painting, and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
