Jimi Hendrix wore this Moroccan-style vest circa 1960s. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers. In the 1960's Irwin booked and worked mainly with James Brown. James Brown sold out Madison Square Garden (MSG) in April 1968, and while working at MSG, Irwin befriended an employee there who ended up becoming a long-time friend of Irwin's. This friend was an early rock and roll collector. This ornate vest was owned and worn by Jimi Hendrix, it was left behind by Jimi after a performance at Madison Square Garden in 1969, and Irwin's friend kept it. Overall good condition with obvious wear throughout the vest. This vest has been in the possession of the Pate's for over 50 years. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the vest comes with a letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
