American Author James Fenimore Cooper signed this Cooperstown check for $15 in 1830. Cooper — who lived from 1789 to 1851 — was one of the most prominent authors of his day and was known for his romantic literature that gave readers a glimpse of Native American literature and frontier life of the 17th and 19th centuries. His legacy also intertwines with that of MLB history, as his grandfather William Cooper founded Cooperstown which now houses the Baseball Hall of Fame. James spent his final years on his grandfather’s land in Cooperstown, and it was then that he wrote and signed this check. Measures 6” x 2.5”. Very Good Condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
