King George VI beautifully signed and dated this photographic print of himself in military uniform in 1943 in black fountain pen. King George VI was a popular monarch who reigned as King of the United Kingdom until his death in 1952. King George VI was known for sharing the same struggles as the common man when England first declared war with Nazi Germany, the Kingdom of Italy, and the Empire of Japan in 1939, 1940, and 1941. He also suffered from a stutter, which was documented in the 2010 film “The King’s Speech,” which earned an Academy Award for Best Picture. The photograph was taken by Raphael Tuck & Sons.
