Queen front man Freddie Mercury's stage worn rainbox stretch belt (39 inches in length unstretched) and green and white wrist sweatbands. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Freddie Mercury. Irwin knew Freddie and worked with him on a few occasions and promoted a few Queen concerts. During a meeting in Montreal Freddie gave Irwin some items from his collection that he no longer used, including these green and white striped wristbands that measure approximately 3.25" in width each. When traveling on concert tours Irwin often would obtain items worn by the artists from tour crew members and venue staff. Irwin obtained Freddie's rainbow belt from a venue employee after Freddie had left it behind in his dressing room after a concert. Very good condition. The belt and the wrist sweatbands have been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the belt and the wrist sweatbands each come with their own letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead (two letters). Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
