This is a group of ten vintage cabinet cards dating from the late 1800’s, each depicting an artist’s portrait of one of history’s most iconic composers. Each card measures approximately 4.125 X 6.25 with slight variation with most signed in facsimile signature and notated in pencil with the composer’s year of birth and/or death. The group includes: Franz Schubert who died in 1828 at less than 32 years of age but whose large body of work ranks him as one of the greatest composers of the early Romantic period. Ignaz Moscheles who composed and played piano and in his later years succeeded his pupil Felix Mendelssohn as the head of the Conservatoire, Germany. French operatic composers Ferdinand Herold and Francois Adrien Boieldieu (often referred to as the French Mozart); Italian opera composer Vincenzo Bellini; German composers Frederich von Flotow, Louis Spohr who was also a violinist and conductor, and Carl Maria Von Weber who was also a conductor, pianist and guitarist. Austrian composer and pianist Johann Neomuk Hummel is pictured on one of the cards with the last card depicting who we believe to be German composer and conductor Conradin Kretzer (personal data incorrect). Good condition. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
