This is the custom made Jackson Soloist designed for Tom Cruise in the film “Rock of Ages”. With serial # 9849095, this custom made guitar based on a Jackson Soloist model is only one of two that were created, the other guitar was given to Tom Cruise. "Rock of Ages" was as 2012 jukebox musical comedy that featured 1980s Rock and Glam Metal music. The cast included Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston and Will Forte. Fender was tasked with creating the 80’s influenced designs for the guitars to be used in the movie. Their Jackson division was obviously the best choice. Two identical metal, stud and leather covered Jacksons were created for Tom Cruises’ character Stacee Jaxx. Fender gifted Tom the actual backup and the one used by him was retained for the Fender Custom show room after filming was completed, this is the guitar being offered here. The film guitar is uniquely visual with an exquisite “Phoenix” inlayed in the neck. That inlay design was never created again .
Also offered here is a second guitar from Jackson Guitars manufacturing, a Jackson Kelly custom “Rock of Ages” promotional guitar with serial # NHJ1022879. The model is custom made based on a Jackson Soloist model. There were only 37 of the "Rock of Ages" promo guitars that were given away through Guitar Center, Johnny Rockets Restaurants, movie theaters and others through brick and mortar outlets and social media. In excellent condition, each of of these guitars come with a letter of authenticity from the executive at Fender that oversaw the creation of the guitars and subsequent promotions and obtained them from the Fender showroom, as well as a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
