Aviator Douglas Corrigan has signed this 10 X 8 original RKO Radio Pictures photograph with an attached caption describing Corrigan between scenes of RKO Radio’s “The Flying Irishman.” This radio program was released after Corrigan’s famous 1938 transatlantic flight from Brooklyn, New York to Ireland in which he claimed cloud cover and low-light conditions caused navigational errors to miss his intended destination of Long Beach, California. Earning the nickname, “Wrong Way Corrigan,” most historians believe his navigational error was intentional. The photograph is signed and inscribed “To Burrin Flanagan – Douglas Corrigan, 12-15-38,” in black fountain pen. Very good condition. Comes with James Spence Authentication (JSA) and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
