Kilby, American engineer who invented the first integrated circuit (1958) and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics (2000) signed this decorated cachet envelope postmarked in 1973 on the First Day of Issue for the Progress in Electronics postage stamp. 6.5 X 3.625. The envelope is accompanied by a letter titled "Integrated Circuity Inventor" printed with a Kirby quote regarding economic viability and suitability for use with the Minuteman Missile. Letter measures 8.5 X 11. The cachet envelope comes with a Beckett Certificate of Authenticity and both items are come with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
