William H Taft, the 27th President of the United States and former chief justice of the Supreme Court, the only person to ever hold both positions, has signed this 5 x 7.75 letter mentioning Red Cross Christmas stamps typed on his personal stationery dated New Years Day January 1, 1909, two months before being sworn into the Office of President. Signed in fountain pen. The letter is accompanied with its' original mailing envelope. Letter displays a horizontal fold line and toning around the edges from an earlier frame display.
