This is an outstanding 19th Century print engraving of General Ulysses S. Grant seated with his wife Julia and their four children. This beautiful engraved print of “Gen. Grant and Family,” is identified with the names of the artist, engraver and publisher responsible for this historic image which is handsomely framed in an original period oval frame (12 X 14). Considered one of the most masterful generals in American History, if not World History, Grant (along with General William Tecumseh Sherman) led the Union Army to victory in the Civil War and accepted General Robert E. Lee's surrender of the Confederate Army at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. It was on the wings of his heroic popularity, next to only that of President Lincoln's that catapulted him to the Presidency in 1869, where he served two terms.
