President Andrew Johnson has written this letter on the letterhead of the Executive Mansion, Washington D.C.to the Secretary of the Navy dated “November 20th 1865”. The letter reads “The Secretary of the Navy will please furnish me with an abstract of his annual report hours to day… for use in connection with the preparation of my message with Congress” written and signed in dip pen . Andrew Johnson was the 17th president of the United States, serving from 1865 to 1869. He assumed the presidency as he was vice president at the time of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Letter measures 8 X 10 and is framed with an engraved picture of Lincoln. Framed 20 X 16. Very good condition. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
