Offered here is a one-of-a-kind piece of John Lennon memorabilia. A pair of John Lennon’s glasses with the lens, complete with the case and cleaning cloth; and a typed letter signed by Lennon (addressed from Kenwood. It’s noteworthy that the cloth has the details of an opticians in Weybridge - the same village where he lived at the Kenwood house). The letter dates August 1967 and reads, “Dear Pauline, as requested a pair of my old specs. With love from me to you. John Lennon”. The date is important as this pair of glasses was worn during Lennon’s time with the Beatles.

This is the only time that a pair of John Lennon glasses has come for sale with written provenance by John Lennon himself. Even in the letter, Lennon has written “with love from me to you”, a line from the iconic Beatles song “From Me to You”. The glasses also come with the original lenses, and interestingly enough Lennon’s eyesight prescription has been somewhat of a mystery. Lennon did have astigmatism (American football shaped eyes, opposed to spherical), and that he was massively short sighted. This can be the only opportunity to know the true prescription of Lennon’s glasses.

This is the most complete lot of Lennon Glasses to ever come up for sale. A museum quality piece is an understatement for this. Lennon can be seen wearing similar glasses throughout his time with The Beatles. With the glasses, the cleaning cloth, the case, the letter signed by Lennon with the lyric in it, this is a must-have for any serious Beatles fan. Good condition. Comes with a Roger Epperson (REAL) Letter of Authenticity, a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
