Elvis Presley has signed this 1973 performance contract in black ballpoint pen. Myrna Smith, lead singer of the Sweet Inspirations, (Elvis' back-up singers), has also signed the contract, in blue ballpoint pen. The contract came from Myrna's personal collection. This artists engagement contract is dated February 18, 1973 and was for the Sweet Inspirations to tour with Elvis in the Elvis Presley Show, April 1973, in various cities with two or more performances a day. Elvis Presley adored Myrna Smith, and the Sweet Inspirations. Previous to Myrna being the lead singer of the Sweet Inspirations, the lead singer had been Cissy Houston, the mother of Whitney Houston. As well as a singer, Myrna was also a songwriter. She married Jerry Schilling, a friend and associate of Elvis who subsequently managed the Beach Boys. In the early 1980's, Myrna co-wrote all of the songs on Carl Wilson's 1981 solo album "Carl Wilson", as well as a few of the songs on his 1983 solo album "Youngblood." The contract measures 9 x 16.5 and has been matted and framed with a black and white photograph of Elvis on stage with the Sweet Inspirations behind him to measure 12.25 x 29.5. The Sweet Inspirations social security numbers have been blacked out in the images showing here and there's an Elvis facsimile signature in white on the bottom left corner of the frame. Very good condition. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Martin Smith, Myrna Smith's son whom she gave the contract to from her personal collection. Also comes with a letter of authenticity from EP Memorabilia, a picture of Elvis on stage with the Sweet Inspirations (in addition to the one that the contract is framed with), and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
