American silent film star Buster Keaton signed and inscribed this black-and-white photograph of himself using a black steel-tip fountain pen. Keaton was an actor, director, writer, and producer, who worked tirelessly from 1920 to 1929 to create one of the greatest collections of films in American cinematic history. However, his career took a turn when he signed with MGM at the start of the sound era and his creative input was severely limited. He had no control over his films, his wife divorced him, and he fell into alcoholism and depression. In the 1940s, he had a career revival in which he became a comic performer and remained that way for the rest of his life. In 1959, he earned an Academy Honorary Award. All in all, he had to separate careers each worthy of monumental praise. Good condition. Measures 8” x 10”. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Letter of Authenticity.
