Woody Guthrie has signed and dated the inside table of contents page of this "Two Little Knights of Kentucky" book in pencil, "Woody Guthrie 1947." He has also hand painted and inscribed and additional 11 pages (including the inside front cover and inside back cover) with water color paint, writing "Wood Pecker", a painting of two houses, a painting of a train and train tracks, writing "Long Away" and "Time Gone", a painting of a guitar with an x over it with the words "Who Cares", "Thank You For Letting Me Stay WG", "For Martin Philips the Cyclone W." with an arrow from The Cyclone to For Marin Philips, a drawing of a boy tossing a ball with "Martin '47" written underneath, as well as "Stop Them" written over a wall drawn in pencil in what appears to be a self-portrait in pencil with paint strokes over it of himself in might be a concentration camp. On the inside back cover he has painted "The End" with a cross, which is faded. He has initialed one page "WG" and another page "W". One page is separated from the binding (the page that has his "Thank you for Letting Me Stay WG" , one page has a slash and a tear (the page he has written "Stop Them", and another page has part of it missing (it hasn't been painted on or written on). The book comes from the grandson of folk radio disc jockey Sheldon Sharpless who worked at radio station WPHB for 52 years and knew Woody. Woody would stay with him and his radio side kick Marty when he came to town. The book, which has some water damage on the front and back covers, measures approximately 5 x 7.25. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
