Ulysses S. Grant has signed this large, attractive membership certificate as President of “The Society of the Army of the Potomac.” The soldier whose name calligraphically inscribed is recognized as having been a soldier of “The Army of the Potomac, Organized August 20, 1861 – Disbanded June 30, 1865,” This Society was formed immediately after the Civil War with the attractive certificate decorated with vignettes of battle scenes, Generals: Meade, Hooker, Burnside and McClellan. The certificate is also signed by the Secretary of the Society, Horatio C. King. Signed in black ink. Pleasantly toned. Very good condition. 21 X 16. Matted 24.25 X 19.5. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
