Starcastle "Citadel" original Greg and Tim Hildebrandt album concept drawing. Pencil on velum, measures 13.5 x 14. Starcastle was a progressive rock band from Champaign, Illinois. Formed in 1969, the group played many shows under the names Pegasus and Mad John Fever before eventually settling on Starcastle. With the popularity of Star Wars In 1977 the ban commissioned Greg and Tim Hildebrandt to do the art for their third album titled, “Citadel”. This piece was one of the concepts used in creating the final painting. Much like finding a map to buried treasure, this beautifully aged velum reveals an opportunity to closely observe Greg and Tim’s imagination and displays their magnificent sense of composition, light, and creativity from the earlier stages of their incredible artistic careers. This sketch is part of the development of an idea born in their minds and given life on their canvas. Though the final painting varies from this concept sketch, the viewer can clearly see the direction forming in this piece. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
