An original cabinet photograph of renowned explorer, journalist and soldier Sir Henry Morton Stanley. Stanley known for his search to find the source of the Nile and Congo rivers is most famous for his exploration of Central Africa in search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone, whom he claimed to have greeted with the now famous line, “Dr. Livingstone I presume?.” Good condition with remnants of scrapbook removal on verso. 4.25 X 6.5.
