New York Yankees legend Mickey Mantle appears on this 1970’s vintage point of sale store display for Eveready batteries which offered a sweepstakes grand prize “a catered party with you and 20 friends with Mickey Mantle in your home town, a 50” Sony TV, a Betamax Video Cassette Recorder and $1000.” The colorful cardboard header display measures 17 X 17 and prominently pictures Mantle with a pair of batteries in one hand and a bat held over his shoulder in the other. A booklet of sweepstakes entry forms are still attached to the display as well. Mantle played his entire 18-year major league career for the New York Yankees, winning 3 American League MVP titles and playing on 16 All-Star teams. Mantle played in twelve World Series with the Yankees during which they won 7 World Championship titles and he achieved the record for most World Series homeruns, which he still holds at eighteen. This is the first that we have seen of this rare original advertising display. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
