Marilyn Monroe and her friend, business partner and prominent photographer Milton Greene have signed this historical document from the January 3, 1955 inaugural shareholders meeting for her newly formed “Marilyn Monroe Productions.” The 7.25 X 10.25 document page which is additionally signed by Monroe’s lawyer Frank Delaney and financial accountant Joseph Carr ratifies the minutes and “…all that has occurred at the first meeting of the Board of Directors of Marilyn Monroe Productions, Inc.,” marking a milestone achievement for the starlet who felt she had had enough of mediocre sex-role typecasting at a low weekly salary. Four days later, the public learned of Monroe’s business venture in a press conference where she announced “We will go into all fields of entertainment.” Having just divorced New York Yankee star Joe DiMaggio, Monroe was going out on her own appointing herself President and Greene Vice President of their company which single-handedly took on the all-powerful studio system, particularly Twentieth Century Fox with whom she had public differences. Ultimately, Fox Studio submitted to Monroe in writing a new deal with past earnings, a new substantial salary for four movies over a seven year period and approval over all major aspects of her production; but not before her Company sponsored two projects, “Bus Stop” in 1956 and “The Prince and the Showgirl,” in 1957 for which Monroe won the David DiDonatello Prize (the Italian equivalent of the Oscar) as Best Foreign Actress of 1958 and the Crystal Star Award (the French equivalent of the Oscar) for Best Foreign Actress of 1959. Excellent condition. This historically significant signed document is beautifully framed to measure 20 X 26. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
