"Immortal Beloved #8" original George Hildebrandt concert drawing for Paul O'Neill's Trans-Siberian Orchestra "Beethoven's Last Night." Pencil on paper, measures 12 x 16. When Fate and Twist (two embodied spirts) visit Ludwig van Beethoven on what is to be his final night alive, they take him on a journey through his life. As part of Beethoven’s happier memories, Fate reminds him of his “Immortal Beloved,” Theresa. Greg captures a depth of emotion with the most elegant and simple of lines, carefully detailing her face, and then becoming looser and more impressionistic as he moves away from the focal area of the drawing. “The Immortal Beloved” evokes feelings of love, loss, beauty, drama, and timelessness–an impression that is not easily forgotten by Beethoven or the viewer. This drawing is a concept for the illustrations that accompany the story “Beethoven’s Last Night,” written by Paul O’Neill, who is best known for his creation of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This piece is part of the preliminary concepts that Greg created and discussed with Paul O’Neill to arrive at the finished paintings that have been published by TSO. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
