This is a surviving and rare original 22 X 35 blueprint dated 1-22-69 for the construction of Walter Reade’s New Ziegfeld Theatre detailing the Upper Lobby Elavations plan for this historic movie house. The theatre, named in honor of the original Ziegfeld Theatre (1927-1966), opened December 17, 1969 with a gala premiere of the film, “Marooned” starring Gregory Peck. Built next to the site of the earlier Ziegfeld Theater, the new Ziegfeld Theatre was the largest single-screen cinema operated in New York and one of the last big palaces built in the United States. The site for countless premiers and galas, the Ziegfeld closed its’ doors permanently at the beginning of 2016 to a sold out, celebrity filled audience filling its’ more than 1150 seats with a final showing of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” This blueprint makes a wonderful display and is a great addition to any collector or fan of nostalgic cinema. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
