This is a jockey silk from the late John Franks, a self-made oil magnate who after purchasing his first horse in 1979 became one of America’s leading horse stables and breeding operations. The colorful silk bears the colors of Franks stable and the fashionable design of his logo with his initials “JF” on the back of the silk. As an astute student of bloodlines, Franks bred most of the horses that he raced. And successful he was. Franks led the country five times in purse money and six times in races won. Frank’s was the only person to win four Eclipse Awards, racing’s highest honor- as outstanding owner; and was voted a fifth Eclipse Award in 1998 when his homebred Answer Lively won the $1 million dollar Breeder’s Cup Juvenile in 1998 at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, his biggest purse victory. Franks passed away in 2003. In his memory, three racetracks have named races after him. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
