For many serious music fans, Led Zeppelin was simply the greatest rock band ever. The group formed in 1968, and as early as 1969, the band started discussing filming a live performance for a projected movie documentary. Their first attempt at filming was in early 1970, but the lighting was judged as mediocre and the film was shelved. It wasn't until over three years later that a second attempt was made, during the group's three concert performances at Madison Square Garden. The resulting film, called "The Song Remains the Same", in addition to the three concerts, would feature clips from backstage and the events involving the band surrounding those three concerts.

Although the film performed well in the box office when it was finally released in 1976, it was reviewed negatively by critics for its perceived amateurish production and self-indulgent content (including some fantasy sequences, which particularly came in for some harsh criticism). For all its faults, though, many today view the film as an interesting historical document that captured the band at a particular point in time when its popularity was at its peak, and as an accurate representation of the excesses of the music and show-business industries in the 1970s. Amongst fans, the film has retained is popularity, as until the release of Led Zeppelin DVD in 2003, it was the only official live visual document that was accessible to followers of the band.

When John Bonham passed in 1980, the other members of Led Zeppelin could not imagine going on without hurting the integrity of their future music, and the band disbanded. For that reason, complete band signed items in any format are incredibly scarce, and albums signed by all four are nearly non-existent and considered the pinnacle in Zeppelin items.

Offered here is one of the only signed “The Song Remains The Same” albums in existence. This pressing of the 1976 soundtrack release for "The Song Remains the Same" bears red superb bold ballpoint autographs by the band during their prime of John Bonham, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page. It was determined that John Bonham had signed for Jimmy Page. The album comes from a close friend of John Bonhams, who received the album directly from John Bonham. A must-have for any serious collector. Very good condition. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
