George Michael handwrote these notes in blue ballpoint pen on four pages of 5 x 8 lined yellow paper on a notepad in preparation for talking to the press after his famous 1992 court battle with his record label, Sony. He writes about how the music industry has no understanding of the creative process, saying how at CBS he felt that he was believed in as an artist, but at SONY thinks the artist is "little more than software," He goes on to say that SONY doesn't recognize artists as individuals "who change and evolve along with their audiences" but that SONY sees that as a "great inconvenience." He refers to himself in the third person, writing, "if George Michael, or any other artist for that matter, doesn't wish to conform to Sony's current values, there are plenty of hungry young acts who will."
